After a spectacular event in 2010, The Broomfield Community Foundations Dancing with the Broomfield Stars event is back for 2011. Dancing with the Broomfield Stars is modeled after the hit TV show, where local business and community leaders are matched with professional dance instructors. A special appearance by The Phil Long Band is scheduled and delicious food from area restaurants will be served. This year's event will also feature two large screens on stage in order to project the dance performances.
"Last year's event was a lot of fun and really brought out the community spirit of Broomfield," said Karen Smith, Executive Director, Broomfield Community Foundation. "Broomfield is fortunate to have the backing of local businesses and restaurants as we raise money to be used for grants to support programs and services that help the Broomfield community." The local celebrity dancers go through an extensive rehearsal process and will perform live on stage. Attendees can vote for their favorite dancers with money so attendees should bring cash, checkbook or credit card to the event. The couple that raises the most money with votes will be declared the winner at the end of the evening. All proceeds benefit the Broomfield Community Foundation. Those who want to vote but cannot attend the event can also vote online until the day before the event.
This years dancers include Randy Ahrens-Broomfield Chamber of Commerce Chairperson, Ed Black-Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, Andrew Bosio-Restoration Specialists, Linda Deland-Corporate Trainer, Heather Drake-Flatiron Crossing, John Long-Broomfield High School Athletic Director, Jenifer Madson-Donnelson, Ciancio, Goodwin, and Amy McKellar-Climber. Dance instructors/coaches are paired with the dancers and include Morris Vaccarella III from Arthur Murray Dance Studio-Lakewood; Julia Wilkinson Manley from Ballet Nouveau Colorado; Jennifer Johnson from Dance Arts Studio; Marie-Jose and Sophie Payannet from Danse Etoile Ballet; Courtney Duran, Evin Larsen and Marcus Woods from Fred Astaire Dance Studio-Westminster and Carlee Taga from Taps n Toes. For entertainment pleasure, Judges will be Julie Baxter-Broomfield Enterprise, Bruce Erley-Creative Strategies Group, Beau Smith-Sill-TerHar Motors and Barb (Bobbi) Spader.
