Born and bred in England and nurtured on a diet of blues and rock and roll, William has been building a seriously dedicated fan base in the UK and the US ever since the release of his first album ‘Prince of the Deep Water’ with former band The Blessing in 1991. The album catapulted The Blessing into a world tour, videos in Jamaica, TV stations in Paris and hockey stadiums in Germany. The Blessing’s second album ‘Locusts and Wild Honey’ was produced by legendry rolling stones producer Jimmy Miller but the band split up soon after its release with William choosing to pursue a solo career that continues to this day. Over the past couple of decades, William has released albums with Lost Highway and Warner Brothers records to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. From the muscular band sound of ‘Black River’ to the folk tinged tunes of ‘Water Taxi’, he has continued to plough his own unique creative furrow. At the same time he has written songs with such luminaries as Delbert McLinton, Daryl Burgess, Aimee Mayo, Chris Lindsey, Gary Nicholson and Toby Tyler to name but a few. His intelligent lyrics and his ability to give a new spin to the universal themes of love and loss make Topley the unique artist he is. His live shows are an exuberant celebration of his work, always presented with a full on enthusiasm and he always leaves an audience yelling for more.
